Aviary

The Aviary set is so cute and I like that it's one of those stamp sets that could be used for almost any kind of card. For this card I paired the stamp set up with a sentiment from another versatile stamp set, So Happy for You from the Sale-a-bration mini catalogue. I also used Elegant Soiree Designer Paper, the co-ordinating colours and Early Espresso brads.

My next order is going in tomorrow so if there is anything you would like please let me know before tomorrow afternoon. Remember that for every $60 you spend you get a free Sale-a-bration selection!

Bold Blossom

I am so sorry i have been neglecting my blog lately but Mary has been home all week with the stomach flu. Of course Pierre is out of town so I am exhausted (but still healthy thanks to hand sanitizer and Lysol!)

This card was made with the super cute Bold Blossom stamp set in the new Occasions mini catalogue (page 31) I can never resist a cute butterfly and I love the butterfly in this stamp set! I also just love the colour combination of Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist. This card is one of the cards I will be making at my Beginner Class in February so if you know anyone who would like to learn more about stamping get them to check out my Stampin Up website for dates and times.

Kimono Kids....

The Kimono Kids are so cute and I am so happy that I have had time to sit down and colour them. I definitely don't recomend this stamp set for those of you who hate to colour but if you like to colour this is the set for you. I especially love the saying that comes with it because I have some super fabulous friends ( you all know who you are!)

Vintage Vogue

Vintage Vogue is ona simply elegant stamp set and it really looks terrific when you pair it up with the En Francais background stamp and the Sincere Salutations sentiments stamp set. For this card I used the colours Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant and Very Vanilla.

To give the flowers the two tone look I first inked the stamp in the lighter ink colour, Perfect Plum. I then rolled the edges in the darker colour of Elegant Eggplant. If you have wood mounted stamps and want to avoid the ink staining on the blocks you can use a sponge dauber to add the darker colour. This technique (Rock and Roll) looks great with other colour combinations such as:
  • Bashful Blue and Marina Mist
  • Certainly Celery and Old Olive
  • Peach Parfait and Tangerine Tango
  • Blushing Bride and Cherry Cobbler

Love You Much

Valentine’s Day is coming up quick and now is the time to be thinking of all the treats, card and things you will be making. I like to make cards all throughout the year to put in Mary’s lunch box, so here is one she will be getting in February. The stamp set I used was Love You Much on page 47 in the catalogue. I inked the stamp set up in black Staz On, avoiding the flower and then I inked the flower with Melon Mambo ink.

Because scans of cards miss some details, it’s really hard to see the glitter on the word Love. I first coloured the letters with a Melon Mambo marker. I then went over it with my Versamark marker and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. The card is finished off with the Scallop Border Punch (I used the Crop-o-dile to add the holes), a white grosgrain ribbon and a rhinestone jewel (for the center of the flower)

Friends are Flowers

Another card made with a different neglected stamp set in my collection! Friends are Flowers is a pretty little set that I wanted to do something different with. I inked this stamp with Versamark Watermark ink, embossed with White embossing powder and colored the negative area's in with Stampin Write Markers (Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, So Saffron and Basic Black) I used a baby wipe to remove the excess marker ink from the white embossed areas. I finished the card off with three Basic Black brads (evenly spaced using the Paper piercing template, page 198 in the catalogue).

My next order is going in this Sunday (the 9th). I will not be placing another order until January 25th so if there is anything you need for Valentine's day projects please be sure to get your order to me soon!

Upsy Daisy....

I had a nice day of stamping yesterday, with Mary finally back at school so I made a point of stamping with some stamp sets that I haven't used in a while. I love Upsy Daisy but because I have had it a long time it tends to be put to the bottom of my stamp sets to be neglected for some newer stamp sets.

Inking this stamp to get this effect takes only a minute. First I inked the whole stamp in Daffodil Delight. I then used a sponge dauber to randomly add some Tangerine Tango ink to the flowers. Next I used a Q-tip to remove the ink from the stems and coloured the stems with an Old Olive marker. I then huffed on the stamp and stamped it on Whisper White cardstock. I know that this technique sounds time consuming, but it's not and I love the effect. I finished off the card with the sentiment in black and Daffodil Delight Button.

Happy New Year....

Happy New Year! I finally had a chance to sit down this morning and play with some of my stamps that have nothing to do with Christmas! Today I decided to make a valentine with one of my favourite stamp sets, Greeting Card Kids. The "L is for Love" is from the Grateful Greetings stamp set. Blue isn't a traditional Valentine colour but today just feels like a blue day (beautiful weather!) so Marina Mist it is with a little bit of Regal Rose!

One of the fun things I did on this card was that is hard to see in this scan is use Crystal Effects overtop of the already coloured hearts and sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds glitter on top. This gives the hearts a "puffy" look in person.

Products Used on This Card:
  • Greeting Card Kids stamp set
  • Grateful Greetings stamp set
  • Sizzix Ovals Die
  • 1" Circle Punch
  • 1 1/4" Circle Punch
  • Stampin Write Markers (Blush Blossom, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Regal Rose)
  • Subtles Patterns Designer Paper Pack
  • Filigree Brad
  • Scallop Trim Border Punch
  • Corner Rounder Punch
  • Crystal Effects
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
  • Cardstock (Marina Mist, Very Vanilla)
